I have a '98 model that backfired and farted something terrible. I removed the white spacer and I have absolutely no backfiring now at all. I can tell a difference in the way it runs (better). I know you will hear all kinds of advice on what to do so here is mine, only remove the spacer and see what happens. if you want detailed and easy to read instructions I can send them to you.
